Hanukkah

This week we are learning about Hanukkah. We read the book The Trees of the Dancing Goats Patricia Polacco and Celebrate Hanukkah by Deborah Heiligman.

M also did a few worksheets of Hanukkah from The Holiday Zone I love this site and I plan on using lots of ideas from there for next weeks lesson on Christmas!

For craft M made a Star of David.

For math and science we are making Latkes. I highly doubt M will eat them, but it says they are good leftover so I guess Dad has dinner tonight. I probably should have just gone with the sufganiyot (jelly filled doughnut).

I think this lesson went well and we both learned a lot about Jewish culture!

  1. That's the thing I love the most....that we learn as much as the kids do.

  2. Chase made latkes at school this year (GASP) and loved them! They served them with applesauce. When I told him that my mil makes awesome latkes, he wanted to call her right away. So . . .you never know, M may be a fan!
